Description
Type: Dessert wine
Production Area: Cerreto Guidi, Florence Province, Tuscany, Italy.
Grape Varieties: 40% Malvasia Bianca, 30% Trebbiano Toscano, 30% San Colombano.
Vinification and Aging: The grapes are dried for 2 months before vinification, which takes place in small oak barrels known as “caratelli.” The wine is aged in these barrels for 3 years, during which a long, slow alcoholic fermentation occurs, imparting the wine with its distinctive oxidized organoleptic characteristics.
Tasting Notes: This Vinsanto boasts a rich amber color. On the nose, it reveals prominent aromas of honey, dried fruits, and figs, followed by a spicy finish. On the palate, it is broad and enveloping, with a perfect balance of sweetness and freshness, accented by citrus and dried fruit notes. The finish is long and persistent.
Pairings: Ideal with aged cheeses, but in true Tuscan tradition, it is best enjoyed with almond-studded cantucci biscuits.
