Description
Sambuca is a liqueur derived from a mixture of elements including elderberry (from which it takes its name) and anise (the company uses both green and star anise), sometimes with the addition of other herbs. The origin of sambuca is commonly attributed to the Carthusian monks and it may have initially had a medicinal purpose. In Italy, it gained widespread popularity, especially during the 19th century.
Sambuca Romana Pallini is produced through the distillation of green anise and star anise, which gives this liqueur its distinctive taste and intense aroma.
After the addition of elderberry extract, the distillate undergoes maceration and is then sweetened.
Today, sambuca can be used in various recipes and many preparations, enjoyed neat or as an addition to other beverages, including coffee.
The intense anise aroma, immediately noticeable even by smell, is precisely what makes this liqueur recognizable and highly appreciated by critics and consumers around the world.
