Description
Made from a historic blend of Nero d’Avola and Nocera, two indigenous Sicilian grape varieties, Mamertino DOC is a rich and structured red wine that reflects the deep-rooted traditions of the region.
Harvested from the Vigneti di Alaccia e Telefono in Patti, Messina, the wine benefits from hillside exposure to the sea, where dry, windy conditions help concentrate both aromas and flavors.
Grapes are hand-picked in mid-September, carefully selected, destemmed, and undergo a 10-day maceration on the skins to extract tannins and deep color. After fermentation at controlled temperatures (21–24°C), the wine matures for 12 months in stainless steel, preserving purity and elegance, followed by five months of bottle aging for ideal balance and refinement.
With a rich ruby red color, Mamertino DOC offers aromas of blackberries, red berries, and Mediterranean spices. The palate is smooth and well-structured, featuring silky tannins and a beautiful, lingering finish, making it a versatile companion to meat dishes and traditional Sicilian cuisine.
