Ingredients Spotlight:

  • Mascarpone Cheese: Look for mascarpone cheese of the highest quality, with a rich and creamy texture that elevates the dessert to new heights of decadence.
  • Savoiardi Biscuits: Authentic savoiardi biscuits, with their light and airy texture, are essential for creating the signature layers of tiramisu perfection.

With these premium ingredients at your fingertips, you’re poised to embark on a culinary adventure that celebrates the essence of Italian indulgence. Let’s dive into the art of crafting classic Italian tiramisu!

The Recipe

Ingredients:

  • 6 large egg yolks
  • 3/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 cup Mascarpone Cheese, softened
  • 1 1/2 cups heavy cream
  • 1 1/2 cups brewed espresso or strong coffee, cooled
  • 2 tablespoons coffee liqueur (optional)
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 24-30 ladyfinger cookies (Savoiardi)
  • Unsweetened cocoa powder, for dusting

Instructions:

  1. Prepare the Mascarpone Mixture: In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the egg yolks and sugar until thick and pale. Add the softened mascarpone cheese and beat until smooth.
  2. Whip the Cream: In another bowl, whip the heavy cream until stiff peaks form. Gently fold the whipped cream into the mascarpone mixture.
  3. Soak the Ladyfingers: Combine the brewed espresso or coffee with the coffee liqueur and vanilla extract in a shallow dish. Quickly dip each ladyfinger into the mixture, ensuring they are soaked but not overly soggy.
  4. Layer the Tiramisu: Arrange a layer of soaked ladyfingers in a 9×13-inch baking dish. Spread half of the mascarpone mixture over the ladyfingers. Repeat with another layer of soaked ladyfingers and the remaining mascarpone mixture.
  5. Chill and Serve: Cover the baking dish with plastic wrap and refrigerate for at least 4 hours or overnight. Before serving, dust the top of the tiramisu with unsweetened cocoa powder using a fine-mesh sieve.
